Great news.

I've finally accomplished something I have always wanted to do. Create a journalistic documentary.

I've just posted "Glass Jungle," a short look at the UConn greenhouses and Clinton Morse, the facility's manager. Morse arrived at UConn in the 1990s after working various odd jobs in retail and wholesale, and now oversees both greenhouses for the university's Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology.

The greenhouses are very cool places to spend a few hours. It's easy to get lost in all of the plant specimens, which come from all over the world. It really is, in some areas, like being in a jungle, with vines and trees stretching up to the glass ceiling.

For a better idea of what I'm talking about, check out my photo gallery from a couple of weeks ago.

There were so many visually interesting opportunities with this project, and I hope the finished product gives testament to that. I had a fantastic time telling this story, but I had an even better time teaching myself how to make high quality video with a DSLR camera, and edit it in Adobe Premiere.

My hope is that one day, with time and experience, I can tell more stories with video.
